Fender Stratocaster

strat.gif (30155 bytes) This is probably my most treasured guitar, and if I had to live on a deserted island with only one guitar, my 1974 Sunburst Stratocaster would be the one I would take with me.

When I was 13, I wanted to get my first electric guitar. I was into three guitarists at the time: Ritchie Blackmore, who is famous for his Strat-playing with Deep Purple, a guy called Mick Box who played an ebony Les Paul Custom, and Tony Iommi, who played an SG. Gibsons were pretty hard to find back then, in Germany where I grew up, so I went for the Fender in the store right next to my high school.

I bought this guitar from my allowance and birthday money savings. I am the original owner, and I still have all the tags. So, this guitar has been a faithful companion to me for over 20 years. It has all the original parts, the tremolo block has lost all its thread, and it has acquired some armrest wear, but apart from that it is stock and mint.
